ADW Launcher in CM 5.0.8 test-4

i just installed CM 5.0.8 test-4 this morning. i was having trouble with the stable 5.0.7. it kept freezing up on me and running real slow. this new version is amazingly fast and smooth (but they are all fast and smooth at the beginning so we'll see how it holds up.)

the first real different from 5.0.7 is the ADW Launcher that is included. it is amazingly beautiful, compared to the Helix Launcher i had been using previously. the launcher aldo allows u to uninstall apps by long clicking an app in the app drawer and dropping it on the drawer pull tab. speaking of the tab, the drawer doesn't pull out, u tap on the pull tab and the apps animate their way onto the screen. the background of the app drawer beautifully transparent.

to the right and left of the pull tab you can place ( 2 ) apps for quick access, ( 1 ) on either side. the launch also allows you to flick the pull tab and gain a dock where you can keep ( 6 ) more apps for quick access.

like the other launcher's i've tried, you are able to choose how many home screens you have (being on an htc dream still, i still limit it down to ( 3 ) screen to minimize widgets for performance and battery life increase) but a new feature is the ability to disable to status bar of the os. i am just trying it out now. the real estate you gain from the bar being disables is minimal, but its quite pleasing to look at with its disappearance.

the last noteworthy difference is that Spare Parts is a stand alone app and is included in the os's main settings.

according to the CM forum, 5.0.8 stable is planned to be coming out soon.

so far it really is spectacular.
